The General Assembly is INTERPOL's supreme governing body and comprises delegates appointed by the governments of member countries.

It meets once a year and takes all the major decisions affecting general policy, the resources needed for international cooperation, working methods, finances and programmes of activities. These decisions are in the form of resolutions.

The conference aims to help INTERPOL identify and meet its member countries’ security needs in the face of an ever-changing threat landscape.
I Made Mangku Pastika, Governor of Bali, addressed participants at the 85th annual meeting of the INTERPOL General Assembly.
The General Assembly also elects the Organization's Executive Committee. Generally speaking, the Assembly takes decisions by a simple majority in the form of resolutions. Each member country represented has one vote.
The conference is being attended by some 830 police chiefs and senior law enforcement officials from 164 countries.
The 85th INTERPOL General Assembly meeting opened on 7 November 2016 in Bali, Indonesia.

The General Assembly is composed of delegates appointed by the governments of member countries. As INTERPOL's supreme governing body, it meets once a year and takes all the major decisions affecting general policy, the resources needed for international cooperation, working methods, finances and programmes of activities.
Indonesia’s Vice President Muhammad Jusuf Kalla said: “We are here because the INTERPOL General Assembly is a forum to realise global interests related to our shared responsibility in protecting and securing the global community.”
INTERPOL President Mireille Ballestrazzi said the Organization was better placed than ever to anticipate the challenges facing the global policing community.
Chief of the Indonesian National Police, General Tito Karnavian said in combating terrorism, organized crime and cybercrime, “INTERPOL is a very important partner in this multi-faceted fight, as it is the only organization which gives our international investigations effective outreach.”
INTERPOL Secretary General Jürgen Stock said “No one country or region is safe from transnational crime threats, and it is INTERPOL’s role to ensure that vital policing information from any of our 190 member countries is securely and swiftly placed in the hands of frontline officers, where it is needed most.”
