With 196 member countries, INTERPOL is the only truly global organization for law enforcement cooperation. That gives us the privilege and the responsibility of speaking up on behalf of the many thousands of men and women who serve in law enforcement agencies the world over, and of advocating for what matters in law enforcement at the highest level of policymaking.
In short, it makes us the global voice of law enforcement.
We have made that unique position one of the four key goals of our Strategic Framework, adopted by our General Assembly in Marrakech last year. The work we do, in close collaboration with our member countries and with other key stakeholders, reflects our determination to lead the global law enforcement conversation.
This issue of INTERPOL Spotlight showcases some of that work. It highlights how our operational teams, analysts and experts in human trafficking, cybercrime and financial crime have brought the shocking threat of scam centres to the world’s attention.
How tools and capabilities like our I-GRIP stop payment mechanism and our new Silver Notice are integral to the international drive to deprive criminals of their illicit gains and return stolen assets to their rightful owners. And how, by marking International Days to remember fallen officers and celebrate police cooperation, we and our member countries shine a light on the police officers who are committed to making their communities safer, often at great personal risk.
INTERPOL will always represent global law enforcement: the officers and staff who work at our duty stations around the world, and in all of the law enforcement agencies in our member countries. We will always be the voice that speaks on their behalf so that we can continue to stand together against crime.
