1.INTRODUCTION
The INTERPOL General Secretariat (IPSG) processes the personal data of the recipients of the INTERPOL Spotlight Newsletter (the “data subjects”) in compliance with INTERPOL’s “Decision on the Processing of Personal Data for Administrative Purposes”, and as further detailed in this Privacy Policy.
2. PURPOSES AND LEGAL BASIS FOR PROCESSING PERSONAL DATA
IPSG processes the personal data of data subjects to send out the INTERPOL Spotlight newsletter. This newsletter aims at providing information and bringing relevant updates relating to INTERPOL’s achievements and landmark moments.
The legal basis for processing the data subjects’ personal data is their consent. Such consent is obtained by means of a clear and affirmative action by expressing their opt-in to receive the newsletter. Data subjects may withdraw their consent – and provide it anew, if they so wish – at any time. Consent may easily be withdrawn by clicking on the “unsubscribe” button at the bottom of the e-mail body.
3. CATEGORIES OF PERSONAL DATA BEING PROCESSED
IPSG processes the following categories of personal data concerning the data subjects ( “personal data”):
i. email addresses;
ii. full name, job title and pertaining organization;
iii. records of your acceptance to receive the newsletter by expressing your consent, as well as your withdrawal therefrom, if applicable
4. RECIPIENTS OF PERSONAL DATA
Data subjects’ personal data will be transferred externally to the service provider used by INTERPOL to enable the delivery of the newsletters. The service provider is Mailchimp, part of Intuit group. Mailchimp’s privacy policy can be consulted on https://www.intuit.com/privacy/statement/.
The personal data will be processed internally within the Communications Department of INTERPOL.
5. RETENTION PERIOD
Provided that consent to receive the newsletter can be withdrawn at any time, IPSG will retain the personal data for the duration of the newsletter initiative and erase them thereafter. This retention period is without prejudice to the data subjects’ right to exercise their right to request deletion of their personal data.
6. DATA SUBJECTS’ RIGHTS
Data subjects have the right to access, rectify and update and request the deletion of their personal data. These rights may be exercises by contacting INTERPOL’s Data Protection Officer using the details below. Data subjects’ rights may be restricted in certain instances. The applicability of such restrictions will be assessed by IPSG on a case-by-case basis.
