Images and references of thousands of firearms to help police correctly identify them.
The proper identification and description of a specific firearm is fundamental to an investigation involving a weapon, and increases the chances of acquiring its ownership history.
The INTERPOL Firearms Reference Table contains:
- References of 250,000 firearms;
- Images of 57,000 firearms;
- Information on firearm markings including trademarks, logos and insignias;
- Useful definitions and terms for firearm parts, accessories, functions and processes;
- Company histories;
- Acronyms;
- Manufacturers’ codes.
This is an interactive online tool and is connected to the Illicit Arms Records and tracing Management System (iARMS). Tracing a firearm can only be successful if the firearm is properly identified.
From this table, authorized users in our member countries can import the unique identifiers of a firearm – the make, model, calibre and serial number – to conduct a search or make a trace request.
