Our mission
As the global organization for law enforcement cooperation worldwide, INTERPOL, through its General Secretariat and National Central Bureaus, provides cutting-edge tools and systems based on artificial intelligence (AI) and other new technologies, access to critical information and intelligence, and world-class support for investigations and operations to law enforcement in its member countries, and serves as a powerful advocate for law enforcement interests on the global stage.
INTERPOL fosters a culture of collaboration, innovation, and trust among law enforcement agencies and connects and empowers law enforcement in its member countries so that they have the necessary information, tools, support, and expertise to create a safer, more secure global community where crimes can be prevented, investigated, and prosecuted more effectively, making a tangible difference in the lives of citizens around the world.

The Strategic Goals translate the Organization’s Vision and Mission into actionable priorities. They serve as a bridge between high-level purpose and day-to-day activities, ensuring that every initiative contributes meaningfully to the broader strategic direction.
Strategic Goal 1: Be the trusted global information hub for law enforcement
INTERPOL will modernize its information exchange system and further expand access beyond National Central Bureaus to frontline officers, investigators, border officials, and judicial authorities. This Strategic Goal aims at improving and updating INTERPOL’s databases and Notices and Diffusions system, improving access to relevant data, and increasing the quantity and quality of data.
INTERPOL will also continue to ensure that its systems are interoperable with national infrastructures, while keeping information secure through advanced technologies and strong data protection protocols. By taking these steps, INTERPOL will reinforce its function as the trusted hub for law enforcement worldwide.
Strategic Goal 2: Provide world-class investigative and operational support.
INTERPOL’s services go beyond providing access to information and databases; they also include supporting investigations and operations in case of incidents or events, tackling organized crime groups, providing assistance in arresting fugitives, and locating criminal assets. Furthermore, INTERPOL’s analytical services will focus on supporting investigative and operational activities by analysing the unique data to which INTERPOL has access.
Through capacity building, training, and innovative solutions, INTERPOL will enhance member countries’ capabilities and increase their knowledge about its tools and services so that they can benefit from the full spectrum of the support available and provided by INTERPOL.
INTERPOL will foster innovation and communication, cooperation, and partnerships with relevant stakeholders, such as universities and AI companies worldwide, to develop practical and innovative solutions and new investigative and preventive capabilities in response to emerging threats, such as AI-enabled crime and other forms of technology-driven criminality. The INTERPOL Global Complex for Innovation (IGCI) will play a prominent role in developing these initiatives.
By increasing the capacities of NCBs, bringing together law enforcement across the world, and fostering trust, INTERPOL ensures a collaborative approach to addressing regional and global security threats and international law enforcement collaboration and networking.
Strategic Goal 3: Be the leading voice of law enforcement worldwide
INTERPOL has a unique responsibility and position to reflect the perspectives of law enforcement globally. This includes advocating for law enforcement priorities, challenges, and needs at the highest levels of policymaking, and contributing to the development of common international standards and thought leadership. Under this Strategic Goal, INTERPOL will foster meetings which enable the exchange of knowledge, experiences, and best practices.
Strategic Goal 4: Ensure organizational excellence
INTERPOL must continuously strive for excellence in its internal processes. This includes applying modern technologies, such as AI, and ensuring transparency, institutional resilience, ethics governance, and strict adherence to international legal standards – particularly in the areas of data protection and human rights.
Upholding financial responsibility and accountability, alongside investing in cutting-edge technical expertise and staff, is essential to sustaining the Organization’s integrity and operational effectiveness. INTERPOL will commit to properly managing performance, pushing for excellence, and setting high expectations.
INTERPOL’s strength lies in the expertise and skills of its officials, particularly in the law enforcement officers seconded by its member countries. INTERPOL aims to further enhance these secondments by expanding geographical representation, attracting specialized technical expertise, and improving secondment options.
