LYON, France – An INTERPOL Incident Response Team (IRT) has been deployed to Bali to assist Indonesian authorities following the bomb attacks in which more than 20 people were killed.
The team includes specialists with expertise in anti-terrorism operations and investigations, particularly in the Asian region, in addition to a technician to ensure that the IRT has instant access to INTERPOL’s global police communications system, I-24/7, and the full range of databases at the General Secretariat, including those on suspected terrorists, fingerprints and stolen travel documents.
An officer from the New York Police Department will also join the IRT in Bali, and additional team members with specialised forensic and analytical skills will be sent to the site if required.
