Addressing the General Assembly of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), Mr Stock said the need to maintain a global vision was essential in addressing the challenges of national law enforcement.

“In a highly globalized world where international crimes have a direct impact on the streets of your communities, as law enforcement officers and police leaders, addressing those is your mandate. Supporting you in this duty, on a daily basis, is INTERPOL’s mandate,” said Secretary General Stock.

“We must ensure the energy of the policing community is channelled towards efficient and effective coordination, to privilege exchange instead of walls between agencies, and to create opportunities to address intelligence gaps,” added Mr Stock.

Underlining the need for non-traditional cooperation for police, the INTERPOL Chief also highlighted the recent membership of INTERPOL to the Global Coalition to Counter ISIL, to provide a conduit for national police to access information recovered by the military from former ISIL strongholds.
