INTERPOL’s mission is to connect and empower global law enforcement for a safer world. Our colour-coded Notices and Diffusions are an essential part of achieving that.

Unique to INTERPOL and known throughout the world, they allow police in our member countries to reach out and cooperate with each other across borders. They can share critical information to help identify, track down and arrest fugitives and criminals, locate missing persons, warn about imminent threats to public safety, trace illegal assets, and more.

This issue of INTERPOL Spotlight showcases these important tools and the work done by our teams and their counterparts across the globe to ensure they meet their objectives, in full respect of our Constitution and our Rules on Data Processing.

There’s the Red Notice – the best-known of our crime-fighting tools – and its success in supporting the arrest of some of the world’s most notorious and dangerous criminals, and the lesser-known Purple Notices that alert the world’s police forces to new criminal methods.

And our most recent is the Silver Notice. Currently in its pilot phase, it is already proving its potential in tracing the illegal assets that criminals move across borders. Silver Notices provide global visibility on billions of dollars in criminal assets, and more importantly, supports their recovery.

Together, INTERPOL’s Notices and Diffusions show just how powerful the right tools can be. They give law enforcement colleagues across our member countries secure access to vital information and intelligence, along with the support they need to drive investigations forward.

At INTERPOL, we’re proud of what we’ve achieved together, using these systems to break down borders and strengthen the global fight against transnational crime.
