INTERPOL Firearms Reference Table

Contains images and references of thousands of firearms to help police correctly identify them.

The INTERPOL Firearms Reference Table (IFRT) is an interactive online tool containing thousands of firearms references and images. The tool assists law enforcement officers to accurately identify technical characteristics of recovered firearms in order to facilitate their tracing and support firearms-related investigations.

The INTERPOL Firearms Reference Table is connected to the Illicit Arms Records and tracing Management System (iARMS). It contains:

  • Over 165,000 individual firearms references;
  • Over 51,000 firearms;
  • Information on firearm markings including  manufacturer’s markings, proof marks, importation and deactivation markings;
  • Useful definitions and terms for firearm parts, accessories, functions and processes;
  • Company histories;
  • Acronyms;
  • Manufacturers’ codes.

Tracing a firearm can only be successful if law enforcement can properly and completely identify the firearm.

Authorized users in our member countries can use the IFRT to identify the identifiers of a firearm – the make, model, calibre and serial number, as well as other markings. Such characteristics can provide law enforcement with valuable intelligence to direct relevant tracing and investigation.
