INTERPOL’s external partners are at the centre of our work fighting transnational organized crime. From government, international organizations, development, banking, technology and more, over 150 stakeholders shared our third annual Partners’ Conference.
At a time when the threats raised by the global criminal landscape are constantly evolving and geopolitical tensions put increasing strain on the efforts to fight them, INTERPOL recognizes the need to work with a diverse range of external partners, each contributing their own expertise.
This summer, our Partners’ Conference was an opportunity to bring some of those experts together to exchange on the challenges of safeguarding global security and encourage current and future partners to Invest in a safer world.
This third edition saw an unprecedented number of participants from the private sector, a reflection of our ambition to build partnerships in many industries, based on a robust framework that mitigates risk for all parties and is guided by our Constitution, vision, mission and strategic goals.
Among the industries represented were technology, finance, philanthropy and cybersecurity and, along with their public sector counterparts, they attended high-level panels on poly-criminality, security and development, INTERPOL’s unique mission and multistakeholder collaboration. There was also a Q&A session with INTERPOL’s Executive Directors and a keynote address by Ian Saunders, Secretary General of the World Customs Organizations, one of our leading and longest standing law enforcement partners.
Delegates were welcomed to the two-day event by Secretary General Valdecy Urquiza and President Lucas Philippe. In his opening remarks, Secretary General Urquiza stressed that INTERPOL and our partners were “united as much by the dangers facing the world today as by our determination to combat them” and that “the diversity of our partners, each seeing one piece of the picture, is what allows us, together, to see the whole and find new solutions to the complex problems we face”.
