The case:
At about 14.00 on 20 August 1994, witnesses found the skeleton of a female body in a trench of the local military training area, around 1,200 metres northeast of the main entrance. The training area, at Bothfelder Heide, Hanover, runs east alongside the Berlin/Dortmund A2 motorway.
The body had been there for approximately two to five years. The wrists were handcuffed, and the body was buried in a 110 cm-deep hole. The exact cause of death could not be determined. The handcuffs used were inexpensive, mass-produced items from the Far East region.
Characteristics:
The woman was of slim build (size 36-38), EU shoe size of 36-39. Her blood group was AB.
She had had very bad teeth during her lifetime. The woman's incisor teeth were badly decayed and had been cosmetically restored with crowns. The crowns were of poor quality. Her lateral incisors were also badly decayed with only a small part of the tooth remaining. She likely received poor-quality dental treatment in Europe.
