The case
On 7 January 2005, the mutilated body of a woman was discovered by the side of secondary road 44, going to the Col du Donon, in the village of Saint-Quirin.
The body had been concealed in a Harcostar-brand barrel-shaped rainwater butt, wrapped in black rubbish bags and tied with cords. The same container had previously been seen floating in the Red Saar River in mid-October 2004.
The case was added to the Identify Me campaign in 2024.
The identification
In 2026 French authorities announced that the ‘The woman with the Richmond dental crown’ had been identified as Hakima Boukerouis. Her identity had remained unknown for two decades.
Following the relaunch of the cold case, French authorities were able to establish her identity through familial DNA searching.
The Gendarmerie Criminal Investigation Section based in Metz, France, which is leading the investigation, also confirmed the arrest of a suspect in connection with her death. This marks the first arrest linked to a case featured in the Identify Me campaign.
