How INTERPOL supports Andorra to tackle international crime.

Tackling transnational crime

Andorra is a small country landlocked between France and Spain. Its geographic location, flourishing financial sector and high levels of tourism attract people and business from all over the world.

These factors also have the potential to make Andorra attractive to organized crime networks. Andorra’s crime areas of priority concern include trafficking in drugs, people and fake goods. These crimes are often associated with money laundering and violent crime.

The international characteristics of these crime areas and their links with crime networks around the world make the role of the INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) in Andorra fundamental to maintaining national and regional security.

INTERPOL in Andorra

The NCB for Andorra is part of the Criminal Police International Cooperation Department in the National Police Corps, which is the national police force.

By providing globally-sourced intelligence about regional crime, the NCB helps police officers across Andorra to detect and investigate the flow of illicit goods along trafficking routes in and around the country.

The NCB plays a central role in preventing the country and surrounding region from serving international organized crime.

Andorra national law enforcement

Law enforcement services in Andorra are provided by the National Police Corps which is part of the Ministry of Justice.

Andorra’s Police Corps is headed by a Director assisted by two Deputy Directors who work  directly with judicial authorities and the public prosecutor.
