Vietnam President and INTERPOL Chief discuss regional and global security issues

HANOI, Vietnam – Increased access to INTERPOL’s databases to enhance national security was the focus of discussions between the President of Vietnam Trần Đại Quang and INTERPOL Secretary General Jürgen Stock.

With Vietnam having played an important role in a number of INTERPOL-coordinated operations targeting drug trafficking, cybercrime and environmental crime, Mr Stock’s talks with President Quang and Minister of Public Security To Lam, covered a range of regional and global security issues.

Vietnam, which hosted the 80th INTERPOL General Assembly in 2011, is also part of INTERPOL’s EU-ASEAN Migration and Border Management Programme II, which aims to improve border security across Southeast Asia to address transnational crimes such as people smuggling and human trafficking.
