Rwandan President and INTERPOL Chief address cooperation at EAPCCO police meeting

KIGALI, Rwanda – INTERPOL Secretary Jürgen Stock highlighted the role of enhanced law enforcement cooperation in the region and beyond against terrorism and other transnational threats as the 18th General Assembly of the Eastern Africa Police Chiefs Cooperation Organization (EAPCCO) opened in Kigali.

Law enforcement cooperation was a key item on the agenda at the opening of the 18th General Assembly of the Eastern Africa Police Chiefs Cooperation Organization (EAPCCO) in Kigali.
Secretary General Stock laid a foundation stone at the future Rwandan regional cybercrime centre.
Rwandan President Paul Kagame underlined the importance of cooperation, information sharing, and constantly incorporating the latest technologies into police work, thanking INTERPOL for continuing to make Africa a priority.
Secretary General Stock underlined the role of INTERPOL’s global policing capabilities in sharing and accessing vital information to address transnational threats in the region and beyond.

At the EAPCCO conference Rwandan President Paul Kagame underlined the importance of cooperation, information sharing, and constantly incorporating the latest technologies into police work, thanking INTERPOL for continuing to make Africa a priority.

With the recently opened Special Representative Office to the African Union in Addis Ababa marking a further milestone in its engagement with Africa, Secretary General Stock underlined the role of INTERPOL’s global policing capabilities in sharing and accessing vital information to address transnational threats in the region and beyond.

Mr Stock congratulated the Rwanda National Police (RNP) for its initiative in organizing the ongoing Exercise Cyber Tracks in Kigali, designed and implemented by INTERPOL specialists at the request of the RNP which identified the need for training on cyber-enabled crime and digital forensics.
