LYON, France – On behalf of the international police community INTERPOL Secretary General Ronald K. Noble has condemned in the strongest terms the murder of U.S. journalist James Foley at the hands of Islamic State militants.

“The barbaric murder of James Foley by the Islamic State group underlines the depths of its depravity as it wages its campaign of terror across Syria and Iraq," said Secretary General Noble.

"This public slaughter of an innocent man has appalled citizens worldwide, and it highlights the ongoing plight of other innocent people across the region at the hands of bloodthirsty terrorists who know neither compassion nor mercy,” added the INTERPOL Chief.

With authorities in the UK saying it was looking likely a man thought to have been involved in James Foley’s murder is British, the Head of INTERPOL highlighted again the need for a multilateral response against the terror threat posed by radicalized transnational fighters travelling to conflict zones in the Middle East.
