Enhancing law enforcement response capability for disease outbreaks focus of INTERPOL workshop

DAKAR, Senegal - Strengthening law enforcement capabilities to respond to disease outbreaks is the focus of an INTERPOL workshop organized in cooperation with the National Central Bureau in Dakar, Senegal.

The four-day (21 –24 July) meeting, bringing together 66 law enforcement officers from six countries - Guinea, Liberia, Mali, Nigeria, Senegal and Sierra Leone -  aims to build on regional experience to develop a coordinated action plan to address future potential biological threats.

Under the umbrella of INTERPOL’s Bioterrorism prevention unit’s Project Rhino, the workshop is one of a series of activities designed to assist countries in West Africa affected by the 2014 Ebola outbreak.
