5th International Expert Meeting on Genocide, War Crimes and Crimes against Humanity

20-22 November 2012, Lyon, France

Attended by around 150 law enforcement and judicial experts from more than 40 countries, as well as representatives from more than 20 international organizations, the aim of this meeting was to enhance operational cooperation and the exchange of information in the investigation of genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity.

Discussions at the three-day meeting centred around the theme “Information for justice”.

The latest developments in intelligence gathering, investigations, prosecutions, training, best practices and capacity building were presented and discussed.

With an increasing number of countries establishing specialized units to investigate genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity, the conference is part of INTERPOL’s ongoing support in developing global expertise in this area.
