Angola’s Interior Minister meets INTERPOL Secretary General for talks

LYON, France – Combating transnational crime across Southern Africa and beyond was the focus of a meeting between INTERPOL’s Secretary General and Angola’s Minister of the Interior.

Angola’s Police Chief, Commissioner General Alfredo Eduardo Manuel Mingas, and a delegation of senior officials from Angola’s Criminal Investigation Service, Immigration Services and the Angolan INTERPOL National Central Bureau accompanied the Angolan Minister on his official visit to the INTERPOL Headquarters in Lyon.

High on the agenda was INTERPOL’s I-ONE initiative to strengthen Africa’s global law enforcement role by improving its ability to share and receive police information.

Discussions with senior INTERPOL staff also included an overview of INTERPOL’s strategy and initiatives in tackling organized, transnational and emerging crimes

With INTERPOL’s Regional Bureau in Zimbabwe helping bolster law enforcement cooperation throughout Southern Africa, the Head of INTERPOL underlined the need for continuous dialogue between INTERPOL, governments and police chiefs so that cooperation keeps pace with constantly evolving global threats.
