Capacity building and training

We carry out a variety of training activities to equip relevant stakeholders around the world with the knowledge and skills necessary to identify, target and dismantle transnational organized crime groups involved in the trafficking of counterfeit and illicit goods.

Our international and regional training events are designed to enhance the ability of the law enforcement community, as well as judicial authorities and government officials to combat all types of counterfeiting and illicit trade.

These events allow for the possibility to bring together a variety of representatives from every step of the investigative process, including police, customs, prosecution services,  the judiciary, revenue authorities and brand holders to:

  • Present their own case studies and experiences,
  • Explain the nature and impact of illicit trade in their country;
  • Train law enforcement officers on the latest techniques and procedures, as well as give legal advice on how to build a successful case for prosecution;
  • Provide a better understanding of the relevant international legal framework.

By sharing information, law enforcement agents are better equipped to support operational efforts in targeting transnational organized criminals involved in the manufacture and smuggling of counterfeited and pirated products.

Online training

The International IP Crime Investigators College (IIPCIC) is a fully interactive online training facility on the subject of intellectual property crime. It provides leading-edge training for law enforcement, regulatory authorities and private sector investigators.
