Media invitation for 45th INTERPOL European Regional Conference in Austria

LYON, France – Senior law enforcement officials from across Europe will gather in St Johann im Pongau, Austria from 16 - 18 May 2017 for the 45th INTERPOL European Regional Conference.

Border security and expanding access to INTERPOL’s global databases to frontline officers will be a key area for discussion in addition to terrorism, cybercrime and organized crime, especially in relation to arms trafficking.

The opening ceremony and speeches of high-ranking officials from Austria and INTERPOL on the morning of Tuesday 16 May will be open to the media.

A press conference will be held immediately following the opening ceremony, in which senior Austrian and INTERPOL officials will participate.

While the remainder of the conference will be closed to the media, there will be opportunities for interviews with specialist officers from INTERPOL.

Information on the conference will be made available on the INTERPOL website www.interpol.int, in addition to photos and opening speeches.

Journalists attending the opening ceremony must bring valid identity documents to the venue.
