INTERPOL supports No More Ransom initiative
LYON, France – INTERPOL has joined the No More Ransom project which helps the public protect itself from ransomware and assists victims in recovering their data without paying the criminals involved.
No More Ransom was launched in July 2016 by the Dutch National Police, Europol, Intel Security and Kaspersky Lab, introducing a new level of cooperation between law enforcement and the private sector to fight ransomware. Since the launch, dozens of partners worldwide have joined to provide advice to the public and tools for decrypting affected devices.
The platform is available in 14 languages and currently contains 39 free decryption tools. More than 10,000 victims worldwide have been able to decrypt their data using the tools which target different types of ransomware.
INTERPOL joins the initiative following the INTERPOL-Europol Cybercrime Conference in September 2016 which focused on enhancing multi-stakeholder cooperation in the fight against cybercrime.
