Global security focus of talks between Nepal President and INTERPOL leadership

KATHMANDU, Nepal – Nepal President Bidhya Devi Bhandari has met with INTERPOL President Meng Hongwei and Secretary General Jürgen Stock to discuss a range of global security issues.

The meeting took place on the margins of the INTERPOL Asian Regional Conference being held in Kathmandu, which has brought together some 117 senior police officials from around the region. President Bhandari recognized the strategic importance of INTERPOL in enhancing global security through the operational and investigative support it provides to all 190 member countries.

Topics discussed during the meeting included human trafficking and environmental crime in addition to the upcoming 50th anniversary of Nepal as an INTERPOL member country, and its continued role in effective transnational law enforcement cooperation via the world police body.
