International cooperation in combating cybercrime focus of conference

TEHRAN, Iran – Enhancing cooperation in combating cybercrime was the focus of the Criminality in an Interconnected World conference organized by the Iranian Cyber Police (FATA) and INTERPOL.

The two-day (26 and 27 May) event brought together representatives from law enforcement, the private sector and international organizations to exchange information on cybercrime-related matters and to share best practice.

Digital information sharing and analysis, cross-border operations coordination and the use of the Darknet by organized crime were among the key issues discussed by participants who also toured FATA’s new state-of-the-art cyber facility.

The need for international cooperation in capacity building and research in addition to operations and the need for harmonized legislation were also highlighted.

Countries which participated in the meeting; Afghanistan, Albania, Algeria, Indonesia, Japan, Lebanon, Mauritania, Oman, Russia, Sri Lanka, Tunisia, Turkey and Vietnam.
