Jordan hosts bioterrorism preparedness table top exercise

AMMAN, Jordan - Representatives from law enforcement, public health and the Ministry of Interior from across Jordan took part in an INTERPOL table top exercise aimed at prevention, preparedness and recovery against a biological attack.

Organized by INTERPOL’s Bioterrorism prevention unit in partnership with the Middle East Scientific Institute for Security, some 24 participants took part in the three-day (8 – 10 March) event.

Key aspects of the exercise were to coordinate preparedness in the event of a biological terrorism incident and strengthen communication between the involved agencies which would be required to work together following an attack.

The ‘Oleander’ exercise was designed for countries across the Middle East as part of a series of activities coordinated by INTERPOL’s Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear and Explosives unit.
