Dubai selection as host for 2020 World Expo welcomed by INTERPOL

DUBAI, UAE – The announcement that the 2020 World Expo will be held in Dubai, which recently hosted the first INTERPOL Intellectual Property Crimes Workshop in the Middle East, has been welcomed by the world police body.

INTERPOL Secretary General Ronald K. Noble congratulated the United Arab Emirates on becoming the first Middle Eastern country to stage the prestigious event which will attract an estimated 25 million visitors.

Lieutenant General Dahi Khalfan Tamim, Deputy Chairman of Police and Security in Dubai city, said the Expo was important not just to Dubai, but also for the region, and that it looked forward to continued cooperation with INTERPOL to strengthen security ahead of and during the event.

The Expo sees hundreds of countries show off the latest in architecture and technology, with the 2020 theme designated as ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future’.
