EU-ASEAN Border Management Programme II – Programme Launch

20 - 22 October 2015, Jakarta, Indonesia

The EU-ASEAN Migration and Border Management Programme II supports the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in the development of an integrated border management system.

The launch event on Tuesday 20 October brought together the main decision-makers in the area of border management and migration issues from all ASEAN member countries, in order to present them with the programme, its aims and objectives.

Three workshops were held in parallel over the following two days, focusing on the main areas of activity that form the programme:

  • Coordination workshop for the technical and operational rollout of I-24/7 (INTERPOL’s secure global police communications system);
  • Stakeholders coordination kick-off workshop for training and operational activities;
  • Stakeholders coordination kick-off workshop for research study.

This three-year programme, funded by the European Union and implemented by INTERPOL, is a continuation and expansion of the successful pilot EU-ASEAN Border Management Programme, which was completed in June 2012.
