SINGAPORE – Enhancing global efforts against transnational crime was the focus of a visit by UK Home Secretary Sajid Javid to the INTERPOL Global Complex for Innovation in Singapore.

The Home Secretary was accompanied by British High Commissioner in Singapore Scott Wightman, and Matthew Collins, Director of Prevent Strategy, Office for Security and Counter-Terrorism.

The delegation was also briefed on INTERPOL’s policing capabilities and range of global databases which support police in INTERPOL’s 192 member countries.

The UK has a long history of cooperation with INTERPOL, dating back more than a century to when the country took part in the first International Criminal Police Congress held in Monaco in 1914, where the original idea of establishing INTERPOL was born.
