INTERPOL President discusses security with senior Russian officials

MOSCOW, Russia – INTERPOL President Meng Hongwei met with Russia’s Minister of Internal Affairs Vladimir Kolokoltsev, the Prosecutor General Yury Chaika and Chairman of the Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin to discuss a range of global security issues.

President Meng toured the police headquarters in Moscow during his visit to Russia, enabling him to see first-hand the security apparatus in place for the World Cup.

INTERPOL President Meng Hongwei met with Russia’s Minister of Internal Affairs Vladimir Kolokoltsev and other senior officials to discuss a range of global security issues.
During his mission to Russia, on 6 July, President Meng addressed senior government officials and business leaders attending the Cybersecurity Conference.

In the discussions Minister Kolokoltsev recognized the importance of INTERPOL databases, highlighting their value as part of security arrangements in place for the World Cup 2018. President Meng toured the Police headquarters in Moscow during his visit, enabling him to see first-hand the security apparatus in place.

Mr Chaika and Mr Bastrykin pointed to the cooperation between Russia and INTERPOL in enhancing global security and underlined Russia’s commitment in further strengthening collaboration.

During his mission to Russia, on 6 July, President Meng addressed senior government officials and business leaders attending the Cybersecurity Conference.

“The convergence of the real and virtual worlds has led to a new era in which non-traditional crimes are becoming increasingly prevalent,” said President Meng.

“The international community has not yet found the most effective solution, underlining the need extensive cooperation and INTERPOL is the ideal vehicle for this,” added the President highlighting the need for action as well as discussion.
