United Arab Emirates

Founded in 1971, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is a confederation of seven emirates: Abu Dhabi (the capital), Ajman, Dubai, Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah, Sharjah and Umm Al Quwain.  The UAE Ministry of Interior, the leading national security ministry, provides national law enforcement services to each of the seven emirates.

To make the UAE one of the safest and most secure countries in the world.

Justice, team work, excellence, courtesy, integrity, loyalty, social responsibility.

Part of the Ministry of Interior, the INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) for the UAE is located in Abu Dhabi and sits structurally in the General Directorate for the Federal Criminal Police.  It is the key working platform for all international police investigations requiring cooperation with UAE police authorities.

  • Fugitive investigation, apprehension and extradition;
  • International exchange of police data to facilitate investigations;
  • INTERPOL notices and diffusions : coordination of action, publication and follow-up;
  • Investigations into trafficking in stolen vehicles ;
  • Investigations into crimes involving the use of stolen or lost travel documents;
  • Transborder crime investigations.

INTERPOL Abu Dhabi is made up of three sections:

  • Extraditions;
  • International crime investigations;
  • International police cooperation and contact.

INTERPOL Abu Dhabi operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and is the permanent point of contact for international investigations involving UAE law enforcement agencies and INTERPOL’s member countries, General Secretariat headquarters and regional bureaus.

As part of a national effort to strengthen UAE law enforcement services and national security, INTERPOL Abu Dhabi has given several domestic police entities, including the national police headquarters, access to INTERPOL’s databases on wanted people, stolen and lost travel documents, stolen motor vehicles and stolen works of art.   This means that officers in the field and at border control can now determine within seconds if a person is a potential criminal or a risk to UAE national security.
