INTERPOL Beijing’s Sub-Bureau for Macao

Macao is a Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China (PRC).  Whilst  PRC is responsible for the territory's defense and foreign affairs, Macao maintains its own legal system, police force, monetary system, customs policy and immigration policy. 

Law enforcement services in Macao are provided by:

  •  The ‘Corpo de Policia de Segurança Pública de Macau’, the police force responsible for the protection of residents and their assets, and
  •  The “Polícia Judiciária”, the police force responsible for crime prevention, detection and investigation.

Both Forces are under the command of the Secretary for Security.

INTERPOL Beijing’sSub-Bureau for Macao

A division of the Polícia Judiciária, INTERPOL Beijing’s Sub-Bureau for Macao is the law enforcement platform for domestic investigations requiring international outreach and for international investigations involving Macao. Delivering a wide range of services to government institutions involved in criminal investigations, the Sub-Bureau is empowered to liaise with local law enforcement authorities for all international requests requiring action.

Daily tasks include:

  • Providing assistance to the INTERPOL community for investigations and information queries relating to Macao or its citizens abroad;
  • Implementation of INTERPOL decisions and recommendations relating to international police cooperation;
  • Tracing, detaining and extraditing international fugitives through international police cooperation;
  • Sharing domestic police recommendations and intelligence with INTERPOL member countries and the General Secretariat;
  • Strengthening working relationships with all NCBs and creating bonds with their security forces and security departments, through the exchange of targeted international criminal intelligence and law enforcement documents;
  • Handling international crime cases and keeping INTERPOL’s criminal databases updated with information relating to Macao criminal investigations.
