The Royal St Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF) is the principal law enforcement agency in this twin island federation.  The RSCNPF has more than 450 officers for a population of almost 50,000. 

The daily command of the Force is assumed by a Commissioner of Police, supported by a Deputy Commissioner and two Assistant Commissioners. The Commissioner is appointed by the Governor General upon the recommendation of the Prime Minister.

The Federation is made up of two islands, each with its own police headquarters, although the entire Force is governed by one administrative body. The headquarters provides operational and technical support to several substations whose duty is to provide daily service to different communities within their district.

Interpol Basseterre

The Interpol National Central Bureau (NCB) for St Kitts & Nevis is part of the RSCNPF’s Intelligence Department – Special Branch. The Head of NCB reports directly to the Commissioner of Police.  Staffed by five officers responsible for all NCB operations and investigations, INTERPOL Basseterre is the exclusive platform for RSCNPF investigations and police action requiring international outreach.

Principal NCB activities relate to the following areas:

  • Organized crime;
  • Transnational crime;
  • Criminal intelligence analysis;
  • Cybercrime
  • Terrorism
  • Trafficking in human beings;
  • Financial crime.
