In support to our services, we develop practical tools aimed at policy-makers and the law enforcement community worldwide.
The INTERPOL Legal Handbooks in the area of illicit trade cover key concepts and current trends, while offering advice in line with international legal standards and requirements.
Legal Handbook Series
This handbook suggests an approach to countering illicit trade based on the application of two sets of international treaties:
- sector-specific treaties (i.e. those conceived to address specific manifestations of illicit trade);
- cross-sectoral criminal justice treaties (i.e. addressing factors such as corruption and participation in criminal organizations).
It suggests policy options and makes recommendations for the design of effective national strategies.
This handbook offers the first comprehensive analysis of the international legal framework against the illicit trade in tobacco products. It provides guidance for policy-makers and law enforcement authorities on the effective implementation of key international instruments in this area, with an emphasis on the new Protocol to Eliminate Illicit Trade in Tobacco Products.
Country and Regional Dialogues
The objective of these practical manuals, which summarize the main discussions and conclusions reached during INTERPOL legal seminars, is to encourage sustained dialogue around the topics addressed during these events and to provide stimulus for policy change and the application of best practices.
