A message from the INTERPOL Secretary General

As a global police organization, INTERPOL has a responsibility to forge partnerships across all sectors to help its member countries access those necessary tools and resources that will help the work of investigators to prevent and solve crimes. The use of this technology will greatly benefit international law enforcement in helping to support and develop investigative leads at the national and international level.

The big picture

The INTERPOL Ballistic Information Network (IBIN) is the only large-scale international ballistic data sharing network in the world and it is available to all 190 INTERPOL member countries. It costs nothing for law enforcement agencies that are already equipped with the IBIS® technology and the service is also available for those not equipped with IBIS. Through IBIN, the opportunity to find that critical investigative lead now exists, even if it is thousands of kilometers away.

Accessibility to non-IBIN members

Want to submit bullet and/or cartridge case exhibits to IBIN for analysis but are not an IBIN member?

For test fires, simply follow the steps outlined in pages 14 through 16 of the IBIN Handbook and they will walk you through the process.

For evidence, you will first need to follow the steps for  double-casting resin replicas of your exhibits as described in the IBIN Handbook before following the same process outlined for test fires above.
