LYON, France – France’s Minister of the Interior Manuel Valls has formally presented INTERPOL President Mireille Ballestrazzi with the medal of the Commander of the Légion d’honneur.
At a ceremony at the Ministry of the Interior in Paris on Thursday 14 November, President Ballestrazzi officially received the distinction to which she was nominated in France’s 14 July honours list.
Mme Ballestrazzi, elected President of the world police body at the 2012 INTERPOL General Assembly in Rome, was originally awarded Knight of the Legion d’honneur in 1997, and became an Officer in 2008.
“This latest honour is recognition of President Ballestrazzi’s ongoing service and commitment to law enforcement both at the national and international levels,” said INTERPOL Secretary General Ronald K. Noble.
“On behalf of all 190 INTERPOL member countries and the staff at the General Secretariat worldwide, I offer President Ballestrazzi our congratulations on this well-deserved award,” concluded the INTERPOL Chief.
