80th session of the INTERPOL General Assembly
The 80th session of the INTERPOL General Assembly took place over four days in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Three new countries were welcomed to INTERPOL’s membership: Curaçao, Sint Maarten and South Sudan.

Seven new members were elected to the Executive Committee, representing all four INTERPOL regions (Africa, the Americas, Asia and Europe).

The General Assembly endorsed a total of 16 resolutions, related to crime areas including child sexual abuse, maritime piracy, firearms and chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear threats.

The launch of Project Predator will help save wild tigers from extinction.

INTERPOL’s Travel Document Initiative speeds up the police response to urgent situations. The document has now been recognized by 31 countries.

Police and officials can use the document to travel on official business without requiring a visa. Cambodia signed an agreement to recognize the document.

Renowned South African singer, Yvonne Chaka Chaka, performed the song “Proud to Be”, highlighting the dangers of counterfeit medicines.

The exhibition area showcased innovations in policing-related technologies developed by the private sector.
