INTERPOL General Assembly- Police and Global Security

INTERPOL's 71st General Assembly session will be held from 21st to 24th October 2002 in Yaoundé, Cameroon. Issues to be covered include:

  • A new global threat assessment
  • International policing priorities
  • Terrorism - the emerging threat
  • INTERPOL's new communication system
  • Improving international co-operation on fugitives

Press representatives will be invited to attend the opening ceremony, the subsequent press conference as well as daily sponsor presentations and accompanying exhibition.

All media representatives who wish to cover the proceedings are advised to apply for the necessary authorisations directly to the following contact, or via the National Central Bureau of the country concerned:

All applications should be sent in writing and should specify the person's name, professional card number and indicate whom they represent. Applications should also be accompanied by a passport-size identity photograph so that the Organizing Committee can proceed with the accreditation process and prepare identification badges.

To assist the media there will be a General Assembly Press Service, jointly organized by the INTERPOL General Secretariat and the Cameroon Organizing Committee. This service will facilitate the arrangement of interviews with individual delegates and officials. Delegates will be encouraged to interact with the media.
