2nd StAR-INTERPOL Asset Recovery Focal Points Meeting
11-13 July 2011, Lyon, France
This event was organized by INTERPOL and the Stolen Asset Recovery Initiative (StAR) – a partnership between the World Bank and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) – in cooperation with the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) of the US Department of State.
The objectives of the meeting were to:
- Share information about country laws, procedures, and good practices;
- Discuss the current features and future development of the Focal Point network;
- Provide concrete support to member countries, including through opportunities for bilateral or multilateral case consultation;
- Establish personal and institutional relationships as a way of building trust and confidence and increasing effectiveness.
More than 120 participants from anti-corruption agencies and international organizations adopted recommendations and provided feedback on the best way to exchange police information at the international level.
