Bahrain’s Ministry of Interior is responsible for law enforcement and public safety throughout the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Mandate:

  • Crime prevention;
  • Maintaining law and order
  • Protecting people and property;
  • Law enforcement services;
  • Crisis management.

Public Security Forces

Law enforcement services in Bahrain are provided by the Public Security Forces (PSF) branch of the Ministry of Interior.  

Structure:

  • Five regional police departments:
    - Manama
    - Muharraq
    - Shamaliyah
    - Janabiyah
    - Wusta
  • Special Forces Department;
  • Special Protections Department;
  • Counter Terrorism Centre;
  • General Directorate of Guards;
  • Traffic Police;
  • Operations Department;
  • Coast Guard.

INTERPOL Bahrain

The INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) for Bahrain forms the link between Bahrain’s Public Security Forces and the INTERPOL law enforcement community.  It serves as the exclusive contact point for all international investigations relating to Bahrain, helping countries with overseas investigations and the location and apprehension of fugitives.

Highly trained police officers at the NCB contribute to INTERPOL's criminal databases and cooperate with all INTERPOL member countries on cross-border investigations, operations and arrests.
