El Ministerio del Poder para Relaciones Interiores, Justicia y Pazes la institución venezolana de la cual dependen los cuerpos de seguridad y policiales del país, incluyendo el Cuerpo de Investigaciones Científicas, Penales y Criminalísticas (CICPC), el órgano principal de investigación criminal de Venezuela.

El CICPC es el principal órgano de investigación que sirve de enlace entre INTERPOL, el Ejecutivo Nacional y el sistema de justicia con miras al cumplimiento de la ley y los procesos de cooperación policial en el ámbito   internacional.

INTERPOL Caracas

La Oficina Central Nacional (OCN) de INTERPOL en Venezuela forma parte del CICPC.  Está formada por policías y personal técnico administrativo altamente calificado y cuenta con un personal efectivo a escala nacional de más de 100 funcionarios.

La Dirección de Policía Internacional (INTERPOL Caracas) planifica, organiza, controla y dirige el flujo de información entre las policías a escala internacional, mediante la ejecución de planes, estrategias y directivas que proporcionen apoyo recíproco en las investigaciones.

Responsabilidades:

  • Mantener el enlace con los diferentes organismos policiales del país y las OCN de INTERPOL;
  • Representar a Venezuela  en las reuniones de la Asamblea General de INTERPOL;
  • Mantener contacto con el Servicio Automatizado de Identificación y Extranjería (SAIME);
  • Cumplir con los parámetros legales establecidos para las solicitudes de extradición de ciudadanos;
  • Mantener actualizados los registros policiales de venezolanos y extranjeros solicitados internacionalmente.
