La Policía Nacional de Panamá (PNP) es un cuerpo armado de naturaleza civil, adscrito al Ministerio de Seguridad Pública y encargado de mantener y garantizar el orden público a nivel nacional. Lleva a cabo actividades encaminadas a asegurar el cumplimiento de sus obligaciones institucionales, basándose en el fundamento legal que le proporciona su Ley Orgánica. Este esfuerzo requiere la participación conjunta de todos los organismos que integran la institución, así como la utilización coordinada de sus recursos, con el fin de garantizar el éxito de la misión.

La PNP es, junto con el Servicio Nacional Aeronaval (SENAN), el Servicio Nacional de Fronteras (SENAFRONT) y el Servicio de Protección Institucional (SPI), uno de los integrantes de la Fuerza Pública. Desde el año 2010, la PNP está subordinada directamente al Presidente de la República, a través del Ministro de Seguridad Pública.

INTERPOL Panamá

La Oficina Central Nacional (OCN) de INTERPOL en Panamá es una dependencia de la PNP, adscrita a la Dirección de Investigación Judicial. Desde su creación, INTERPOL Panamá ha desempeñado una función importante en la lucha contra la delincuencia transnacional, realizando las 24 horas del día notables aportaciones a esta labor, lo que le ha permitido cumplir con los objetivos para los cuales se creó.

  • Grupo Especializado no 2 – Delitos contra la Vida e Integridad Personal, Delitos contra la Libertad y Víctimas Especiales;
  • Grupo Especializado no 3 – Delitos contra el Patrimonio Económico, contra el Orden Económico, y contra la Fe Pública;
  • NSO: Oficial de Seguridad Nacional;
  • I-24/7: Sistema mundial de comunicación policial protegida de INTERPOL;
  • UEIPC: Unidad Especializada de INTERPOL –           Paso Canoas;
  • UEIAIT: Unidad Especializada de INTERPOL – Aeropuerto Internacional de Tocumen.
