Media invitation for 82nd INTERPOL General Assembly in Colombia

LYON, France – ‘INTERPOL: 190 countries, one vision for a safer world’ is the theme of the 82nd INTERPOL General Assembly which will take place in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia from 21 – 24 October.

Senior law enforcement officials and security experts from around the world will gather at the event to discuss a range of policing issues including drug and arms trafficking, terrorism, trafficking in illicit goods, and border security, and to shape 21st century policing solutions to evolving criminal threats.

The official opening ceremony and speeches by senior Colombian and INTERPOL officials will take place at 10 am on Monday 21 October and are open to the media. This will be immediately followed by a press conference.

The conference proceedings are closed to the media, however press briefings on a range of subjects will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday 22 – 23 October. Interviews with police officials and international delegates may also be arranged upon request. The closing ceremony is also open to the media and will be held at 1pm on Thursday 24 October.

Journalists wishing to cover this event should apply for accreditation no later than Friday 11 October by sending the application form and photo to Alberto Antonio Cantillo Toncel via email on coest.arevi@policia.gov.co or prensapolicianacional@gmail.com.

Journalists without accreditation will not be granted access, and all accredited media representatives will be expected to present their press credentials and national identification documents at the media registration desk upon arrival.
