INTERPOL Red Notice for Bin Laden’s right hand man
By request of Egyptian police authorities, INTERPOL on Tuesday posted a Red
Notice for Aiman
Al Zawahry, a leader of the Al Jihad terrorist group and emerging as
one of the key figures in Osama
Bin Ladens al-Qaeda terrorist network. INTERPOLs 179
member countries are thereby formally requested to try to trace him and,
if successful, immediately notify the Cairo INTERPOL Bureau as well as INTERPOLs
Headquarters in Lyon, France.
Dr Zawahry, a trained physician, is considered to have masterminded several
terrorist operations in Egypt. He is accused of criminal complicity and management,
for the purpose of committing premeditated murders, of the storage and possession
of firearms, ammunition and explosives, of destruction of property, and of document
forgery. He was also in charge of recruiting and training members of his organization,
of weapons financing and outside communications.
Aiman Al Zawahry was born in Giza, Egypt in 1951.
