Amendments to the Rules on the Processing of Information for the Purposes of International Police Co-operation
|
The ICPO-Interpol General Assembly, meeting in Berlin, Germany, from
19 to 22 September 2005 at its 74th session:
BEARING IN MIND Article 8(d) of the Constitution, under the terms of which it is empowered to lay down any regulations deemed necessary,
ALSO BEARING IN MIND Article 44 of the Constitution and Article 1 of the General Regulations,
RECALLING Resolution AG-2003-RES-04
adopted at its 72nd session (Benidorm, 2003) by which it approved the Rules on the Processing of Information for the Purposes of International Police Co-operation,
NOTING THE CONTENTS of Report
AG-2005-RAP-01
proposing amendments to the said Rules,
NOTING the opinion of the ad hoc Committee set up in application of Article 56 of the Organization's General Regulations,
ENDORSING the conclusions of Report AG-2005-RAP-01 concerning the need to revise certain provisions of the Rules on the Processing of Information for the Purposes of International Police Co-operation mainly in order to enhance the underlying principles of the Rules on the Processing of Information for the Purposes of International Police Co-operation within Interpol, such as the primacy of the N CBs, to facilitate and standardize connection to the I-24/7 system for the national institutions authorized by the N CBs,
APPROVES the amendments to the Rules on the Processing of Information for the Purposes of International Police Co-operation given in Appendix 1 to the present report;
ASKS the Working Group to continue its activities in order to bring the draft Implementing Rules, the I-24/7 Charter and the draft Telecommunications Rules into line with the Rules on the Processing of Information for the Purposes of International Police
Co-operation;
DECIDES that the amendments thus approved shall enter into force on 1 January 2006.
