Resolution No AG-2003-RES-08 

Co-operation Agreement between the International Criminal Police Organization - Interpol and the Special Court for Sierra Leone


The ICPO-International General Assembly, meeting in Benidorm from 29 September to 2 October 2003 at its 72nd session:

BEARING IN MIND Articles 2(b) and 41 of the Organization's Constitution,

CONSIDERING that the Special Court for Sierra Leone, which is an independent international organization created to try those responsible for crimes against humanity committed on the territory of Sierra Leone after 30 November 1996, pursues objectives which are compatible with Interpol's aims regarding the prevention and suppression of ordinary-law crimes,

RECALLING that United Nations Security Council Resolution 1478 encourages States and international organizations to co-operate with the Court,

ALSO BEARING IN MIND Report AGN/63/RAP/13, submitted to the General Assembly at its 63rd session in Rome in 1994, on co-operation with international tribunals competent to try the crimes which come within the mandate of the Special Court for Sierra Leone,

HAVING EXAMINED Report AG-2003-RAP-18, which proposes a Co-operation Agreement between Interpol and the Special Court for Sierra Leone,

APPROVES the proposed Co-operation Agreement, the text of which is given at Appendix 1 of Report AG-2003-RAP-18;

AUTHORIZES the Secretary General to sign the said Co-operation Agreement.
