Resolution No AGN/69/RES/5 

Supporting further anti-corruption initiatives of the Interpol Group of Experts on Corruption

NOTING the recommendations adopted by the Second International Conference on Corruption-related Crime,

RECOGNIZING that corruption continues to be a major threat to effective law enforcement,

ACKNOWLEDGING that only an effective and proactively orientated programme can minimise the risk of damage that corruption causes,

The ICPO-Interpol General Assembly, meeting in Rhodes, Greece, from 30th October to 4th November 2000 at its 69th session:

RECOMMENDS that Member States undertake to unequivocally continue to support the efforts of the IGEC and in particular the following specific initiatives:

to launch a project in partnership with the United Nations by means of a survey to assess the commitment and effectiveness of law enforcement agencies throughout the world in promoting internal integrity;

to develop and offer a range of best practice approaches to corruption prevention, diagnosis and investigation with a particular emphasis on training;

to formulate global standards to combat corruption within law enforcement agencies.
