FBI training

The Fingerprint Unit at INTERPOL General Secretariat has an Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) and receives tenprints and crime scene marks from its member countries for search and input. The Fingerprint Unit therefore offers training and awareness to all staff of the member countries.

 Agenda

- General Fingerprint awareness
- Use of Cardscan and NIST viewer
- Forensic Awareness
- Fingerprint comparisons and identifications
- Use of AFIS

 Aim of this course

It is imperative that the data that is input into the AFIS is of the best possible quality to ensure that full comprehensive searches can be conducted, participants at this course will be given all the knowledge required to ensure good quality fingerprint data is retrieved at a crime scene and transmitted to member countries for processing.

 Duration of the course

1-3 days

 Target Audience

- The training is aimed at staff of the NCB’s who have the responsibility of transmitting the fingerprint data to INTERPOL.
- Operational forensic staff of the member countries.

More technical training in the field of fingerprints can be provided at the request of staff from the member countries.
