Other environmental crime types

The INTERPOL Environmental Crime Programme realizes that the world is now facing numerous environmental challenges and threats. Some of these challenges are already clear and present, others are still emerging, and some have yet to develop.

Environmental crime is confined to neither wildlife nor pollution as targeted by our current projects. It includes, but is not limited to:

  • Forestry / illegal logging
  • Fisheries
  • Ocean-related crime
  • Natural resources
  • Climate change
  • Protected areas
  • Water management crime

Partnerships and expanded focus
Top

The Programme is committed to identifying and responding to emerging trends in environmental crime.  Through our Pollution Crime Working Group, we are assessing enforcement issues relating to climate change laws, and we have also collaborated with the World Bank to produce an international study on illegal logging from a law enforcement perspective.

Using intelligence-driven policing, we will continue to develop new and focused international enforcement activities in order to combat environmental crime and other crossover crime types.

In order to deliver this expanded programme, we are actively seeking strong operational partnerships.
