The number of children missing and found during 1997-1998 :
In 1997, 4 children were not located of the 1663 children reported missing.
In 1998, 30 children were not located of the 1840 children reported missing.
The circumstances of disappearances of children are twofold :
- Of the child’s own will, usually due to familial, social or personal problems.
- Disappearance against the child’s will (criminal, security, others...). When there is an immediate suspicion that the child willbecome a victim of crime. Other reasons of this disappearance concern the disappearance of babies, the mentally ill, the mentally retarded.
