Austria
Law enforcement services in Austria are provided by the Directorate General for Public Security, a department of the Federal Ministry of the Interior.
Nine state police commands report directly to the Federal Interior Ministry, providing police services through local, city or district commands. With a strength of 27,500 men and women serving in the country’s nine states, the force is in charge of nearly 900 police stations and more than 80 specialized stations (for example, dog handlers, traffic police, and so on).
